One out of five of us deal with Food Insecurity, which means four out of five of us could help!

Hosting a Fund and Food Drive has become a great way for our community to impact our mission to feed individuals and families in need across Alabama! Every grocery item donated helps. Every dollar donated provides an additional 6 ½ pounds of assistance directly to those who are struggling to put food on the table.

Communities, businesses, clubs, schools and individuals continually display their pride in ownership, and empathy for the MAFB mission by hosting countless Fund and Food Drives on our behalf…many of which we are unaware of until the proceeds are delivered.
There are more than a few Food & Fund Drives which have become annual events.  Considering how many and how widely these events differ, Independent Food & Fund Raisers are viewed by our communities as a fun, social way to volunteer individual time and talents to a truly worthy mission.  That said, the food drives that take our hearts are the children who have birthday parties and ask party goers to bring nonperishable food instead of presents…and then donate them in support of our mission.

We’ve put together a Fund & Food Drive Information Sheet, which provides some guidance and even a way to let us know how many MAFB boxes and/or barrels you want to use.  When we are presented with folks who are feel they might not be quite ready to host their own drive, but want to anyway, we can frequently provide opportunities to support a current drive which is being promoted here.

  The Deer Creek Homeowner's Association is proud to announce the 11th Annual Neighborhood Food Drive - benefiting The Montgomery Area Food Bank. All homeowners are encouraged to participate and help us fill the clubhouse with non-perishable food and toiletry items. Plastic grocery bags will be distributed to your homes prior to the event with information concerning collection times.

Type of Event: Hunger Action Month
Date: September

  Nowadays there seems to be a month or day devoted to one cause or another. And, while combating hunger in Alabama is an effort which receives your full support throughout the entire year – we will be joining food banks throughout the nation to designate September as Hunger Action Month.  
  At a minimum; success will be measured by an increased awareness of the battle being waged to combat hunger in Alabama. At best; we will provide opportunities for the origins of efforts which could realize a lasting impact on our mission – combating hunger in Alabama.
  We readily recognize and whole-heartedly appreciate the awe inspiring support we receive throughout the year. However, by highlighting an entire month, we hope to provide other groups and individuals an opportunity to follow your lead and answer our collective call to take action to combat hunger.
Type of Event: Fourth Annual Agency Conference
Date: October 30th; 9 am - 3 pm

  We are happy to announce Montgomery Area Food Bank's Fourth Annual Agency Conference entitled "Getting the Most from YOUR Food Bank - Utilization, Creativity & Full Potential" and ALL agencies are invited!  
  You can scan and e-mail the Registration Form (ONLY) and send to; fax it to 334-262-6854; mail to: Vicky Manley, 521 Trade Center St., Montgomery, AL 36108; or drop it by the office.
  We have a total of 400 available slots. All agencies are expected to register at least one - but no more than two participants. Registration for the conference will close on October 9, 2015, or as soon as all the slots are filled. If you register and DO NOT attend, your agency will be charged a $10.00 no show fee. You MUST cancel before Friday, October 16, 2015. After this date your agency will be charged the $10.00.
