STATEMENT OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Calendar Year 2008

* From our CY-2008 Distribution Report

• Distributed 11,766,362 lbs. of food to the needy (roughly 435 tractor trailer loads)

· Total Pounds to Food Bank Agencies, Mobile Pantry, and Partner Distribution Offices (located in Selma, Dothan, and Auburn): 11,099,706 lbs. (94.3%)

• 1.3 million pounds of food distribution was through our Mobile Pantry – a direct outreach program.

· Total Pounds to other Food Banks & useful purposes: 143,743 lbs. (1.2%)

· Total Pounds to recycle/trash: 522,913 lbs. (4.5%)

• Completed a 9,200 sq. ft. warehouse expansion in September that included:
• An increase of warehouse Floor Space to 40,000 sq. ft.
• Conversion of a cooler to a freezer, increasing our freezer capacity to 37,100 cu. ft.
• Installation of a new cooler, expanding our refrigerated space to 26,000 cu. ft.
• Additional office space, bringing the total Office/Utility space to 7,300 sq. ft.

The passage by congress of the Farm Bill this year provided for an increase of USDA commodities over the next 5 years thereby providing much needed nutritional food for the needy through the Feeding America (formerly America’s Second Harvest) Food Bank network.

Additionally, both national and local food industry donors are answering the call to action by contributing more food for the needy to our food bank.

* 88% of monetary donations go directly to Program Services with 12% used for administrative costs (average over past 5 yrs).
