Food Drive of the Month
January 2012
Carmen Gemette's
"Festival of Lights"

Mr. Gemette (pictured on the right) gives Parke Hinman, Ex. Dir. of MAFB the monetary donation from his "Festival of Lights" Fund/Food Drive.

Mr. Gemete has been a faithful contributor of the Food Bank for many years (10 or more).  He has a spectacular light display at his home where he has our barrels for food donations and takes
in monetary donations also.

This year Mr. Gemette collected 592 pounds of food and $81 in donations.  PLUS those donating got to see his FANTASTIC holiday light display.

Thanks Mr. Gemette for helping us
"FEED HOPE ACROSS ALABAMA"

Did you know?

  For every $25 donation to
the Montgomery Area Food      Bank, we can provide up to 160 pounds of food.  This    would feed a family of three for two weeks or an elderly
couple for a month.  Would you like to MAKE A
DONATION by credit card or debit card online?

If you would like you may choose to make your
monetary contributions  to support a specific
Food Bank Program:

~   Our Senior Supplement Program targets the
needs of the elderly by providing food supplement
  boxes monthly.

~   Our Mobile Pantry Program involves the delivery
of a Food Bank truckload of assorted foods to a
specified site where it is distributed directly to qualified
  clients.

To learn more on these programs click HERE.

Even though fully half of the households that visit food
pantries and soup kitchens have at least one member
who is working, their wages are too low to meet all
expenses. Quite often what gets left out is food.
